The teaching format is designed to help students progress intellectually over the year, advance their writing and speaking skills, and instill confidence in forming opinions and developing the ability to express their views articulately. They will be guided by pre- distributed texts; the objective will be to initiate an informal but lively discussion on the week’s topic.
Collaborative work will be encouraged so as the creative exchange of ideas in class.
Listening work
The students have 20 minutes to listen to a recording. They freely manage their listening time and can make notes. At the end of the listening, they must provide in English:
- an introduction that places the document in its context (political, economic, cultural) and clears a problem;
- a summary of the document;
- a structured commentary on two or three aspects of the document;
- a personal development on the theme
Written work
The students have 2 to 4 hours to write a written report of a text or oral document.
The outline is similar to the one mentioned above.
